Celebrating a Birthday or Special Occasion in Orlando? Let Everyone Know!

We all know the age old song – “it’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to” – but you certainly won’t be crying when it’s your birthday in Orlando!

Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are well known for making your holiday with them the most special one of all, so tell them it’s your birthday or special occasion and they’ll do everything they can to make you feel even better!

1. Tell the Hotel

Whether you tell your travel agent or you put it on your notes when booking your hotel, it’s worth having it noted down. If you’re staying on-site at either Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort, then it’s definite must to have it noted. From birthday surprises to magical phone calls, it’s worth letting them know! And don’t forget to remind them when you check-in whose birthday it is and their age!

2. Get a Free Badge

You can get the badges from the following locations..

Walt Disney World

  • Magic Kingdom – City Hall on Main Street
  • Epcot – Guest Services
  • Hollywood Studios – Guest Services
  • Animal Kingdom – Guest Services
  • Downtown Disney  – Guest Relations

Universal Orlando Resort

  • Islands of Adventure – Guest Servicesuor-birthday

3. Let Everyone Know

Disney guest? Headed for a table service? Tell the Cast Member when you arrive that you have a birthday and be sure to tell the CM who is serving you. Booked an ADR? Make sure you note it down on the reservation that it’s a birthday! It’s also worth mentioning it when eating in the restaurants on-site at Universal’s CityWalk and Universal Orlando Resort hotels. Remember, if you’re eating out or the resort on your birthday, it might be worth checking out that restaurants website to check if they have any special birthday offers. If you do eat out, make sure you tell them it’s your birthday too – most restaurants will get all the staff together to come sing you a song!

4.  Be Serenaded

If you’re at a restaurant or around the parks wearing your badge, don’t be surprised if Cast Members start singing to you! If that’s what you want, let the CM know when you arrive. It will also be worth visiting a World Showcase location in Epcot, where you can be sang to in all different languages! It is also worth visiting the Mystic Fountain in Islands of Adventure and telling it that it’s your birthday, you’ll be surprised at the response!

5. Visit Ollivander’s at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

What better way to celebrate your birthday than to have your wand chosen for you in Ollivander’s Wand Shop! If you are wearing your birthday badge, apparently this is the way to get yourself chosen by Mr Ollivander, no matter how many children are in the crowd.
