Well, we’ve seen the pictures, and we must admit the Satu’li Canteen in Pandora looks very nice and the best part is you don’t even have to stand in queue and wait to order your food.
Yep, you heard us correctly, when the new canteen opens you’ll be able to order on your food choices on your mobile via the My Disney Experience app, turn up and bypass the entire queue and collect your food. It’s going to be as simple as ordering, turning up and touching a ‘I’m here’ button which will let the kitchen know to start making your food. No waiting, nothing. It’s going to be amazing that we don’t have to wait around and stare at those menu boards for ages while the person in front orders 12 meals. You’ll simply be able to pick up your order at the mobile order counter.
We’ve been told that the only down fall to this currently is that while the Quick Service element of the Disney Dining Plan will be accepted at the canteen it will not be accepted for mobile ordering which at the minute only supports credit card payment – so make sure you attach your credit card to your My Disney Experience account.
We’re told that diners start with a base of quinoa and vegetable salad; red and sweet potato hash; mixed whole-grain and rice or romaine and kale salad. After that, you’ll have a choice of either wood-grilled chicken, slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish or chili-spiced fried tofu. The chipotle-style bowl is finished with charred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette or creamy herb dressing.
It also looks as if they’re going to offer steamed “pods” which is bao buns with either a cheeseburger or vegetable curry and served with root vegetable crisps and crunchy vegetable coleslaw.
If you’ve got some fussy little ones, there’s an option of grilled chicken or beef, fish or tofu with greens or rice; a hot dog wrapped in Parker House dough; a cheese quesadilla or a steamed cheeseburger “pod”.
